Kari Dunham is a painter living and working in Portland, Oregon. A native of Southeastern Washington (born in Prosser, Washington in 1982), she attended school in Springfield, Missouri. She completed her undergraduate work at Evangel University in 2006, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting. Dunham studied under Michael Buesking, David Bigelow, and Cheryl Maples. After graduating from Evangel, she worked one year for Creative Walls: Faux Wall Designs in Kennewick, WA. She gained experience with such techniques as Venetian Plaster, Marmorino, Marbling, and Luster Stone. She now works for the Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, Oregon. A renowned art glass manufacturing company, Bullseye is providing her with valuable knowledge of glass and its artistic qualities. Historically she has worked primarily with oils but recently has also taken up ink drawing and gouache. Her art is in response to personal life experiences—be they joyous or grievous—and to the brilliant and subtle beauty of nature. Dunham has been influenced by Jean François Millet, Richard Diebenkorn, Michael Buesking, Ben Shahn and Bruce Herman.
